I Found a Cat or Kittens
  • I found a cat or kittens

  • NEVER FEED CATS OR KITTENS COW/DAIRY MILK. IT CAN MAKE THEM VERY SICK!

Completing this form does NOT guarantee we can take in the cat/kittens, but we'll guide you in the right direction. We will ONLY contact you if we can help.

    • By law, cats are legally allowed to roam. It is not legal to bring a cat to a pound simply because the cat is outside. If the cat is causing a nuisance, attacking wildlife or at risk of injury due to the situation or you'd like to discussion the situation further, please contact your council for advice.

Animal Welfare League NSW is a private charity and unfortunately we are not able to accept healthy stray animals. Feel free to submit the form and we'll send you some tips that may help.

    • If the cat is sick or injured, the cat can be brought to a local vet clinic.

    • If any of the cats are sick or injured, they can be brought to a local vet clinic.

    • Kittens/mum and kittens
    • Kittens under 4 weeks rely heavily on their mum. If the kittens are warm and look healthy, mum likely hasn't abandoned them and is probably nearby if she isn't with them now.

If you haven't seen mum, ensure the kittens are kept somewhere safe nearby, away from people as they could spook mum and deter her from coming back. If the kittens are still there after 4-6 hours and meowing constantly (which often means they're hungry) then mum cat may have abandoned them.

If the kittens are cold to touch, sick looking or mum cat has abandoned them, the kittens will need immediate help or they could pass away.

If the kittens have been abandoned by their mum, our neonatal kitten guide may help you whilst you're trying to find somewhere for them to go.

    • If the mum cat is sick or injured, she can be brought to a local vet clinic. Alternatively, try contacting rescue groups near you. Note: often most rescue groups will be full so you may need to contact many. Rescue groups cover vet costs (at their approved vets and strictly through their processes) if they approve you to foster the kittens for them.

They may be more likely to accept the mum and kittens if you:

      • Offer to (and commit to) care for the mum and kittens until they are ready for rehoming.
      • Include the information in this form (which will be emailed to you after submitting it) and good photos of the kittens as well as describing the situation they are in (in a paragraph or two).

Please also feel free to continue this form and we’ll respond IF we have space for the mum and kittens.

    • If they are near Kemps Creek and are sick or injured, our Animal Ambulance 'may' be able to assist with catching them and this form will go to them, once submitted. If they are not sick or injured, we cannot assist with catching them.

    • This may limit the help available. You may wish to contact friends, family, or neighbors to see if they could assist with transport if a rescue group had space to take in the cat/kitten(s).

If the cat/kitten(s) are sick or injured and are near Kemps Creek, our Animal Ambulance 'may' be able to assist. Please continue to complete this form if the cat/kitten(s) are within a reasonable driving distance from Kemps Creek.

If they are not sick/injured, we are unable to assist with transport.
